Burgers + Cookies

Fargo is filled with food, puppies, and dessert. And Bailey, of course.

Tonight Nick and I made these poblano pepper burgers. We started cooking at 4:30pm and ate dinner around 7:30pm, because apparently the princess poblano peppers are very finicky and take forever to deal with. It was worth it.

Burger! Corn! Yum!
There was also wine.

And wine Slurpees. Yeah, I hadn't heard of them either, until now. And now I wonder how I haven't heard of them earlier.

What?!
It's literally like a Slurpee, made with wine. Insanely good. Gone in five minutes.

Sam and Katelyn made cookies for dessert. Also insanely good. Chocolate chips + pretzels.

COOKIES
I might have eaten six. Maybe seven.

Bailey stuck her little nose into the kitchen when all the cooking was happening.

Hey guys Bailey is here. Feed me please.
She mostly spends her days on the lookout for puppies.

Creeper cat is creepin'.
The puppies sleep and sit around a lot.

Tired Huck.
Eh?
And they get taken on walks.

When they aren't looking, Bailey drinks from their water bowl. Because you know, her own isn't good enough.

Big kid water bowl!
So, in summary:
  • Animals are funny
  • There is food here
  • I have gained 10 pounds since Saturday, despite doing more yoga in the past three days than I did all last week
  • Vacation is great

Fargo!

Today was our first full day in Fargo.

Welcome to Fargo.
It was quite a gorgeous day. Filled with puppies. So many puppies!

Meet Benny and Huckleberry
And of course, the new puppy, Badger!

HI GUYS PLAY WITH ME
Badger is adorable and loves to nibble on my hands. His baby teeth are quite sharp, and one time he went for my face...all in good fun. I'll take it.

We eventually played some croquet (after lazing for about four hours, and after I took an hour-long nap...vacation is good).

Badger was pretty keen on playing with us.

I would like to chew on this thanks.
But really. Very keen.

Can we play fetch with this?
And he definitely didn't forget about the wickets.

YUM IS THIS FOOD?
But in the end he was a good spectator.

I'm a good dog.
I did manage to make it out of the house for the first time to take the pups out on a walk.

I'm not brave.
Benny needed to walk behind all of us because he had to keep an eye on everyone, otherwise he would panic since he wouldn't know what we were doing. So neurotic.

Oh, and the day was also filled with cake.

Chocolate. That is all.
Coffee cake.
The coffee cake was literally made this morning, and that was all that remained at dinner. In fact now I don't think there's any left at all...we did well.

There were drinks.

Strawberry daiquiries.
And of course, there was Bailey. This blog is still (mostly) about her, right?

NOTICE ME
She was a wildcat today and spent most of the day sprinting around the house and...rolling around on the carpet. She's special.

Vacation is definitely off to a good start.

Road Trip!

About a Kitten is being featured on Pet Blogs United all week this week! Thanks to Pam and Oskar at PBU for featuring Bailey, and thanks to everyone who's come and visited the blog!

Katelyn, Nick, Bailey and I spent about 12 hours today driving from Chicago to Fargo.

Adventurous kitten is on the lookout
Sadly that was about as adventurous as Bailey got during the car ride today. Nick and I made the exact same trip last year, and she was completely fine, but she was quite nervous today and spent most of the time curled up next to her litter box. Although she did eat a little bit and even go to the bathroom at one point.

Who, me? Nervous?
Okay I will stay right here.
THE LITTER BOX IS BASE.
Otherwise the road trip went pretty smoothly. We never hit any serious traffic, and we got to meet up with a friend in Madison, WI for breakfast, which made the trip seem shorter.

Minnesota provided for some nice scenery along the way.

Somewhere in Minnesota.
And now we're in Fargo! Vacation time! There are three puppies here and I will most likely take no less than 9000 pictures of them this coming week.

Fargo!
Now it's bedtime because I'm exhausted. For the lack of Daily Artsy today, I will have TWO (or more) tomorrow.

Dessert Friday #9

Cupcakes! Galore!

Katelyn joined us for Dessert Friday today since we're all driving up to Fargo (that's right, North Dakota) bright and early tomorrow morning to visit Nick's parents (and their puppies!) for a week. I made chocolate cupcakes with cream cheese frosting last night for a friend's birthday at work, and tonight we ate some that I had set aside.

I'm too busy panicking right now to write a lengthy post.

I leave you with pictures (beautiful ones, from my DSLR).

I made these. YUM!
:)
And Nick bought me this from the Macy's food area! :D
Seriously delicious. And for $2.50!
Bailey's running around being crazy. Good, because maybe she'll tire herself out for our 11-hour drive tomorrow.

WHAT IS OVER HERE IS IT TOYS
Back to PANICKING. AAAHHH
